Self-Represented Litigant’s Handbook

Community Legal Information received a grant from the Law Foundation of Prince Edward Island to develop a handbook for self-represented litigants (SRLs). A self-represented litigant is a person who represents themselves in court.

‘How to Go to Family Court Without a Lawyer: A Handbook’ is now available to Island residents. Click here to download the handbook.

Many Islanders cannot afford lawyers, and they must navigate the justice system themselves. This new plain-language handbook gives information about family court process, preparing for court, what to expect and more.
