Community Legal Information is a charity that provides legal information, education and referrals to Islanders. Our goal is to provide Islanders with useful information about our laws and the justice system.

Community Legal Information will be offering a legal support service for people who have experienced workplace sexual harassment on PEI. We are seeking a Project Manager to develop and coordinate this service.

In addition to overseeing all aspects of the project, the Project Manager will be responsible for coordinating the delivery of trauma-informed training for legal stakeholders and project staff who will be working with clients who have experienced workplace sexual harassment. The Project Manager will be responsible for recruitment of legal counsel to the project. Travel throughout the province will be required.

Community Legal Information also provides a legal information inquiry line and lawyer referral service. Once trained, the Project Manager will be responsible for staffing the inquiry line for one full day or two half days per week.

Project Manager’s Duties:

  • Work directly with people who have experienced workplace sexual harassment to provide case management, including but not limited to: answering all inquiries about the project and available resources; providing legal information and referrals to legal and non-legal resources and supports; maintaining project statistics and handling invoicing of legal advice for clients.
  • Oversee all aspects of this project, including planning, administration, outreach, delivery, evaluation, budgeting and reporting.
  • Build community partnerships relevant to the project.
  • Assist with the development of plain language community outreach materials.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to deliver effective public legal education programming.

Inquiry Line and Lawyer Referral Service (LRS):

  • Respond to legal information requests (our office receives approximately 4,000 inquiries annually from the general public, community organizations, private businesses and government agencies).
  • When legal advice is required, provide a Lawyer Referral using the system that Community Legal Information administers on behalf of the Law Society of PEI.
  • Identify and provide appropriate referrals and communicate details to lawyers and clients.
  • Ensure that concerns from lawyers and clients are immediately forwarded to the Executive Director.
  • In collaboration with other staff, manage and improve LRS information and processes.
  • Administer LRS procedures in a clear, confidential, and accountable manner.

Requirements:

  • University degree or an acceptable combination of skills and work experience.
  • 2+ years of Project Management experience.
  • 1+ years’ experience working with the general public.
  • 1+ years’ experience working with vulnerable populations.
  • Very strong interpersonal and organizational skills and an ability to work with others.
  • Excellent oral, written, critical thinking, conflict resolution and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to absorb and use new and complex information quickly.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and enjoy teamwork.
  • Skilled user of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Access to reliable transportation.

Assets:

  • Experience working in a non-profit setting.
  • Training in crisis intervention.
  • An understanding of law and legal processes.
  • Experience maintaining focus and confidentiality in an open office setting.
  • Fluent in French and English.

Salary is $24/hour for 37.5 hours per week. Full health care benefits package and competitive vacation offered upon completion of probationary period. Some overtime may be required occasionally.
